Insurance cost...

Insurance charge such unbelievably high rates they could be termed as predators. I have Progressive, within two years I will have paid enough to purchase another Honda CB300f. Needles to say I'm looking for cheaper insurance. These morons said because it is a sport bike. A sport bike? It's a 300cc single cylinder thumper. Hardly on the same level as 600cc crotch rockets. C'mon man it's only a 300.. Can everybody chimein on their experience with the insurance wolves.

It varies quite a bit from state to state (or province for Canada). Is this your first motorcycle? They tend to have quite high insurance costs. They are seen as pretty dangerous by insurance companies.

I was actually pleasantly surprised by the rates I was given for my CB300F from State Farm. It's less than half of what I was paying for my 2014 Honda Grom, which is only 125cc.

Liability: $100,000/$300,000/$50,000 each accident ($20.72)
Uninsured Motor Vehicle: $100,000/$300,000/$50,000 ($98.50)
Other Than Collision, Deductible $250 ($27.33)
Collision, Deductible $500 ($61.46)

Total Premium: $208.01 per year

Keep in mind that there are SOOOO many factors that affect your rates (age, riding experience, state, credit score), that it's almost impossible to compare apples to apples, from one rider to another, even with the same, exact bike.

I have Progressive and pay $375.75 for a yr. I just got back into riding and bought the cb300f. I'm 48 yrs, took the MSF w/ clean record in LA. If anything, age and clean records is a major factor.

I've been reviewing and researching insurance options more as of late. From what I've researched (on cbr250.net HERE and elsewhere), I'm paying more than I should be. $72 - $73 per month for the max full coverage from Farmer's with multi policy / MSF, etc. I'm paying month to month for the time being.

I'm considering switching over after the end of this second month... Or maybe reducing the coverage since it has some extras that feel unnecessary. Don't know yet, still studying the options.

75/month isnt unheard of. As part of the deal with my parents when i bought the bike was maximum coverage for everything. I paid 1554 for the year including the discount for paying all at once.

I do have an at fault accident from last year in my car that was not claimed.

I never get full insurance for my motorcycles as they are an 'extra' i can afford to go without if need be. Bike theft is pretty rare where I live. Naturally I have third party cover tho encase I prang into that Merc and it is my fault. Here in NZ that cover costs me a whole $57NZD annually which is about $40USD. Cheap.

Thru State Farm I pay $265 a yr. ($22/month) I also bundle with my house and car, so that helps. It was the lowest compared to other places due to the bundle. I had an agent do some price comparisons for me. Im happy, considering I cant ride 2-4 months out of the year
