Homeade Tote Box #3

Please give me your opinion on this tote box. Does it look really ugly?

Gosh, I am so tired of having to carry a big duffel bag around with all my safety gear and stuff but so far every homeade totebox I attach looks awful. Hot chicks are certainly not impressed so far with any of the toteboxes I have tried. And even the one that @The_Bachelor uses which is expensive and purpose-built.....lets be honest it is not very aesthetically pleasing either.

I attached it just with a large zip tie just as an experiment before I devote too much time and effort into mounting it properly. The size is good and it is thin enough where I dont think it will harm fuel economy by too much.

This one is transparent and I dont know if that will attract or repel the thieves. They can see there is nothing but motorcycle gear inside (which most drug addicts are not interested in)

Sigh, I really got to move out of this high crime neighborhood. But even living in an expensive neighborhood we eventually have to make visits to the bad neighborhoods if you live in any large city of the USA. There is no avoiding it.

There is not a Walmart or Home Depot in a 2 hour radius from me that is not full of riff-raff hanging out in the parking lots and looking for things to steal.

ugly is different to different people..
what [something] looks like to others, depends on theyre seeing its function and purpose, then how that relates to the motorcycle..
i saw the big heavy 'add-on' type cbr250r as 'ugly', not as a cat container or sound suppressant device, but for its size and weight
and after-thought design,, on that beautiful honda..
for context, imagine [any] beautiful motorcycle, say a supersports or cafe style bike, but with a large [effective] touring windshield.. there's a certain design flow in well designed motorcycles, which can be disrupted with [anything] contrary to that design flow.. ultimately tho its in the eye of the beholder,

you in this case...

Yes, it is certainly a choice between beauty or practicality. It certainly is convenient and efficient to have the totebox but I wonder if people will think I am a GrubHub or Uber Eats driver.

The sad truth is I will probably take it back off in a day or 2 and go back to the old system of tying down a duffel bag to the pillon seat with bungee.

I eventually cave in to mainstream society's pressures of fashion. "What will the girls think?" kind of mentality

Still a "no" from me. HOWEVER, I'm envisioning a tote with that footprint but half the height, and that might be tolerable.

It's a shame about our side-mounted exhausts... I would try a saddlebag-type setup if I had to store a bunch of stuff all the time...

Practical is not always the most aesthetically pleasing option, this can be said of many things.
I see your conundrum, you need to cart a lot of bulky stuff around on a daily basis... but you dont want to look like a pizza delivery boy as you go about your ride.

I dont have any answers for you. I like a slim and shaped tail bag myself. Better aerodynamics and a svelte look compliments the bike more. Unfortunately they tend to be on the small side compared to your box. Luckily I don't use my bike as a commuter.
This is the one I presently use:

Yep.... pretty ugly... .....just like mine. The only way I can justify mine is when I hop off it and stick my helmet and jacket in it. If I could find a bagster like kiwi showed that could do that, I’d be all over it. The other thing the big plastic trunks got going for them is we never see em when we’re over the bike..... that way I can just pretend it’s not there......

My wife, who is a 'hot chick', says "no" to the tote box look.

Heh-Heh. If you guys who are actually bikers are giving it the thumbs down then just imagine what non-bikers will say.

I still think if not a motorcycle trunk than a back pack is the way to go
