Hi from NC

Hi from the western part of NC. I currently own and ride a '15 Yamaha R3. But I'm seriously looking into the purchase of a new '18 CBR300R at my local Honda Dealer. Hope you don't mind if I troll and learn for a while.

Do you mind me asking what makes you want to buy a '18CBR300R when you already have a R3?

I'm an old guy who's been riding for over 45 yrs. I no longer enjoy heavier, more powerful bikes. My R3 has made me a better rider, and I believe the CBR300R is another example of lots of technology, dependability, and fun at a great price. I'm still mulling it over. But if the price is right? I'd rather enjoy 2 small, efficient bikes than 1 expensive fast bike I don't enjoy or need.

To ride or not to ride? What a stupid question.

R3 and CBR look very similar to me. Does it make sense ?
A rebel or a enduro might be more different.

My family would tell you I'm old, and have no mind at all. That's true. But, I rode an 1983 R80RT BMW. It had an air-cooled boxer engine (2 cylinders with heads opposed at 90 degrees). Over the years, BMW introduced an oil-cooled, then water-cooled engine. So, the older engine became known as an "airhead". I rode the bike for 34 years, and sold it 2 years ago. Thus, "airhead83".

To ride or not to ride? What a stupid question.

Agreed, it doesn't make much sense. And yes, the CBR and R3 are very similar bikes. That's why I'm interested. Lots of guys/gals my age spend their Retirement Income on new HDs, Goldwings, or Trikes. Not my cup of tea. But, I've really enjoyed the, new to me, riding experience of a smaller sports bike. For the same arguments used for "new riders", I feel comfortable saying this group of bikes may be the perfect "last bike" for me. AND, this seems to be my one vice/bad habit that my wife doesn't frown on.

Had two airhead BMW's loved them and two oilheads hated then-- remember the limited edition R65LS had one in Hanna red with white wheels-- all told I still think the 800 series was the best size engine

A reliable engine, even with Carburetors. I paid almost as much for my '83 R80Rt new, as I did for my '15 R3 new. BMWs are out of my price range now. Even if I found a model I liked, which I haven't, I really couldn't justify the cost. Heck, at this stage in my life, I don't even buy green bananas.

How old can you be or is it how you feel-- I see 70 right in front of me been riding 56 years 51 bikes can't see stopping now-- first no large 1000cc bikes than nothing over 400lbs-- that's where I'm at right now -these 300's are a flash back to the mid 60's forgot how much fun they are- down the line I could see a small trike-- time will tell
