Hey, be honest...do you talk to yourself while riding, especially when a slow/stupid driver is blocking you, or do you bear the burden of having to follow a comatose cager in silence?

Sometimes I encourage zombie-fied drivers verbally, though I try not to use long sentences...

Yeah, I also talk while driving a car. Usually I pretend to be "encouraging" the other driver. Okay, dumb-dumb, let's go! Let's go, let's go!

Me too! Screaming I have found is a great release of frustration. Why are drivers so stupid?:crying:

Apparently the latest thinking is that you are still sane if you talk to yourself, the true crazy ones go all weird and silent

I had to get myself a pet so that my neighbors think I'm talking to the cat, but really its me...

there are different voices doing the talking..
at home one of them might say 'time for a brew'
then another one says 'where'd i put that cup?'
but the main riding voice starts before we take off,
like 'ok,,, juust relax' [triggers long soft exhalation]
then sort of observes quietly, noting balance and
comfort, what hands and feet are doing [gears etc]
then 'right, here we go',, signalling take off..

then it sort of talks to itself, noticing road surface,
immediate road environment [whats happening]..
it notices testing front brake before first corner,
then gives a general warning 'right-oh, there they are'
[cars] 'keep an eye on them' [talking to eyes, which sharpen
noticing prawns trying to park or about to come out etc]..

it sort of monitors things as we ride along; 'lights'
'nutcase', 'crossing', 'she's coming out', 'touching his brakes'
[someone in there quietly notes 'drop back', or 'overtake',
and like that..

i'm too busy enjoying the ride really, to say much at all..

they seem to be going by a sort of navy 'action stations'
alert, or a lesser variant of that state of mind..
once under way theres not much talking going on,
but everyone is sort of on a relaxed higher alert..

sometimes i might hear myself thinking about
stopping to pick up coffee on the way home..
or reminding myself to 'dont forget to fill up'
and suchlike..

its like meditating or doing a high level karate kata [for eg]
you dont think thoughts like 'im meditating' or that
'now we turn and block' [etc] more just being there
quietly observing it all unfolding...

Oh **** yeah. I talk to myself constantly (outwardly or inwardly) throughout the day. It does seems to be more prominent, if not also more profound, when riding. There are three main situations where I talk to myself and pretend to be talking to something/someone else: When riding I talk to the bike. We prepare for upcoming curves, heavier traffic, etc. When I'm hanging out with my dog I make jokes about the day and then make jokes about how not-funny I seem to be to my dog. Before, during, and after playing I talk to my guitars. They respond in a similar fashion as my bike. It is a similar cooperation that exists with the bike or with my guitars. We "team up" to annihilate the road or destroy the next riff. Some people are quite afraid of their inner voice. It must be very unsettling to live with such unease with one's self.

It's the both of us... Going at it from within our rainbow lands, haha!
Huh?

Just wondering Fanatic, do you use one of those online translators when writing posts? I only ask because some of the phrases you've used don't make sense, or are often used outside of the typical context/usage.
