I bought this full face Dual Sport AFX-41 helmets. I always used an open face helmet before a deer hit me back in early August and totaled my bike I was riding and messed up my face a little. I like the helmet a lot because it looks like a MX helmet with the bonus of a shield and it fits my head well. However I am wondering is there something funny about the styling. I have seen some kids point at me when I go by the local elementary school on the way to work and a young guy at a stop light took my picture the first time I had it on too. I only ask if there is something funny about it because I have never seen another rider with this helmet and I am 43 years old and I may not realize there is something weird or unacceptable about the styling. I am still going to use it but I would like to know if there is a joke I am missing?

I like it for the same reasons you mentioned. Kids in elementary school poke fun at everything! If anything it has a Star Wars Storm Trooper thing going for it which I also like and suspect is the reason that guy took your photo.


I also like the dual sport look.

I guess a can see the star wars likeness now but to me it only looked like an MX helmet with a shield. In any case I am alright with it. However, I am more comfortable with the Stig comparison.

I know I should have known this already but I found this switch on the side of the helmet that drops an internal shaded visor in front of your eyes. It works pretty good with the clear main shield down but when I put the clear shield up and left the shaded visor down it does little to protect form dirt coming around the visor and getting in my eyes doing 35mph or higher.

The visor just looks a bit big to me. Maybe they just think you are really cool because you are riding a motorcycle? As long as you like it that's the important thing.

There is a resemblance with helmets in Halo series of games. If anything, the kids probably thought how cool your helmet was.
