The misplaced (to me) horn button really bugs me.
Has anyone tried the CBR250R switch to see if it fits/works?

Agreed. Every time I switch bikes and come back to the Wee Beastie I spend the first 15 minutes honking at everyone. Would be interested to know if there is a compatible swap too.

I seem to be the only one who has no problem with the horn/signal switch positioning. I’m wrong about so many other things in my life that this shouldn’t surprise me.

I too find it is not instinctive. Still have to think a bit before using indicators and a flashing indicator light does not do much to move slow pedestrians.

cbr250r horn is placed right there, where thumb can be resting over/above horn button.. someone has obviously designed this location from rider thumb/hand positioning and movement.. whereas 300 location looks like a design element rather than genuine safety and application based design..
you can [must] re-learn this less natural more complicated movement, including moving thumb before, using horn..

i dont use full hand grip rather rest fingers over clutch in traffic etc, with thumb 'floating' rather than firmly gripping, so it was easier, not easy as in natural,, to relearn the new illogical position on top of bar.. which meant deliberately riding with thumb up and over the relocated button...

same thought occured to me as to swapping for the original cbr250r clutch side handlebar furniture,, but never got around to doing it...
[think theres a thread somewhere on this]

Its more a problem I think for people coming from a different bike or people that own multiple bikes. But my muscle memory has finally adapted to it. I personally would not look to mod it and spend extra money.

Its kind of like people that look to upgrade the seat and I tell them its easier to harden your a.s.s and train it to to adapt to the seat than it is to adapt the motorcycle by switching parts.

We humans are very resilient creatures and evolve to adapt to most any situation. Me for example......I started taking cold showers as part of a protocol that I am following and it was very uncomfortable the first 5 times but now I am completely used to it. And it made my dandruff go away

I agree. Someone put form before function. Always wrong.

From pictures I have seen it looks like the plug ends are quite different between the two models. Don't know what would be involved there, but might find a used 250 switch and have a look. It might be possible.
That's why we have winter ;)
