I got a pair of mega brights 5630's red led strips. I'm gonna wire them so they are for the brake light only, not running and not both. I am also going to keep the OEM 1157 running/brake light bulb. If I tap into the brake harness and wire the led's to the brake ON wire only and wire the ground wire only, will I need a resistor still? No diode is needed as I am not going to use the led's as both running and brake lights. The computer will still recognize the current draw of the OEM 1157 bulb so it will still know it's there and not burnt out. Any thoughts?

They are 12 volt leds, no resistor needed. Polarity needs to be correct. If they don't light up reverse wires.
