What is the longest trip you have taken on your CB300F (if you CBR300R guys see this feel free to jump in)? Was there any highway riding? After taking that trip is there anything you would change?

My longer trips are only about 1.5 hours. I run the bike at 65ish mph. It is really revvy at that point. I recently went with a 15t sprocket so hopefully this will help calm the bike.

A few buddies and I are planning about a 1,000 mile 4 day trip. The ride to the location alone is 360 miles and then returning 4 days later with the same amount of miles coming back.

How difficult will this be if there is a 162 mile stint of 75-80 mph riding and the rest around 60mph?

Hey Cody, Ive done a few big rides on my R model, the longest being 3,500 miles spread over 16 days. The longest I have ridden in one day is 400 miles approx and I got off the bike knowing I had done it but feeling in pretty good shape considering. These bikes are more comfortable than a lot of bigger bikes I've ridden. In particular the seat is quite comfy despite it's slim look.

Your biggest disadvantage with the 'F' will be a lack of fairing to break the wind for you, especially on your highway section. But if you start early and take lots of rest stops then you will be fine. Pack light as these bikes don't have a lot of spare horsepower to lug heavy loads around.

Enjoy your trip. :)

I just rode about 170 miles (indicated w/15t) round trip on a casino run. Kept it 7.5-8.5K the whole time with a 2 hour break in the middle. Bike handled it fine, though mileage took a decent hit.

Longest one day ride was just over 600miles. Over 12hours of riding including freeway at WOT for several hours, up to 10,000 feet elevation gain, 26% grades, tight twisties, a little bit of rush hour traffic. My gas mileage went down below 55mpg mostly from the WOT on freeway...glad I have the 15t.

I have done 720 miles over two days. I pretty much had nearly an hour break every two hours to space it out. had a slight pain in right wrist after day two but otherwise pulled up fine.

I did 500 over labor day weekend, 250 each way. could have stopped a little more often, but other than some minor tweaks would do it again.

My wife and I did 2100 km over 8 days this summer in Ontario and New York (Catskills, Adirondacks, Finger Lakes, etc.) My wife on her 300F and me on my 500X. We don't ride fast and maybe only 105kmh on the 4 lanes. The 300 had no problem and my wife was comfortable enough.

lonest trip 6000

see my Feb 2016 post, I did 6000 miles in two weeks averaged 62.5 mpg did a few 600 plus mile days....but then I'm a veteran long distance rider who wanted to prove a point about smaller bikes. I also have a big Harley but will attempt the 4 corners ride sometime in the future with this small bike....smallest bike they have on record doing that ride is a 650cc so our little 286cc bike should crush that stat.
You can also see a pictoral write up by the Charlotte Observer newspaper by just googling "The Motorcycle Diary/Charlotte Observer" if you'd like a day by day short write up and miles per day etc

Keep riding and smiling.
