Lets start from the beginning. So I started off on a pocket bike when I was little until it broke, so I got a larger sized pocket bike a year or so later to replace it. What a hunk of junk! After 10 times of running it back and forth to the shop, they ended up giving us our money back so we got a new moped instead. I rode it for a few years until the carb got plugged up. Now its just sitting in the garage since then. Well now I have my '08 Civic so no need for the moped. But I always said to my parents, one day I'll get the bigger version of a pocket bike. I've been looking them up and researching for months, specifically the Ninja 300 and CBR250. But as soon as I came across the picture of the Matte Black and Yellow 300, I had to have it. I went to my local Honda Kawasaki dealer yesterday just to take a look around as I've never gone inside before. What do you know, they have a black cbr300 non-abs and the matte and yellow with abs! I was shocked they had one in stock on the floor. I got an OTD just under $6k. About a hour later with some haggling, it was mine and I put my deposit down on it. I'm going in Tuesday to pay the full amount and schedule my free delivery as I don't have my license yet. I'm pretty stoked!:)

I think you made a good choice for a 1st real motorcycle. I think the CBR300 takes the least effort to ride of any bike to ride I have ever been on before.

If you have a driver's licenses for a motorcycle permit most states just make you take a eye test and ask 20 questions on a computer screen and you are able to ride your bike that day.

Good Luck

I'm going on Tuesday to pay for the bike, but I may go earlier in the day to get the permit. I wouldn't feel comfortable driving the bike all the way across town to get it home without any experience driving a motorcycle. I wouldn't think delivery would be any later than this week so I can wait a few days. I'm just hoping there is nice weather the day I get it, rain sure would be a bummer!

Good for you. Some wisdom from a much older rider:

1. Get good riding gear; you heal faster after the fall
2. Take a riding course(s); it(they) may save your life. The least it will do is lower your insurance.
3. Take lots of pics with you in some of the pics; this is your first real bike and you will always want to remember it. I wish I had taken pics of my blue 1978 [new] Kawasaki KZ200... I've had 13 bikes since then but no pics of the 1st one!
