So wherever I go I always get compliments on my bike. One time at the beach I was walking back to my bike in the parking lot and some man was taking pictures of it . I told him pictures will cost ya. Anyway, today I was coming out of a store and this man looked at my bike and passed by me and said "Nice Scooter Buddy"!! I held my mouth shut and bit my tongue as I watched him get into his old beater of a truck.
I'm still not sure exactly how he meant that? I wish now I had said something as it's irking me to know

A lot bikers refer to motorcycles as scooters.
Ahhhh a sigh of relief. I was kind of thinking that at the time, that's why I didn't open my big mouth. I didn't think someone would be that rude to me right in my face. Makes me feel much better now. I can relax thanks guys

adding 'buddy' gives it a friendly tone as well..

always best to remain calm thus in control
whether its a compliment or insult..
or any other attempted expression..

cbr250r and 300r [esp clean all black models]
are beautiful motorcycles..
knowing this, comments say more about
the commenter, than the motorcycle..
either they can recognise it
or they are otherwise confused..

if someone intended to pass an insult
my response might be "thanks mate"
perhaps adding 'you have a nice day too'..

if it was clearly a childish attempt at insult,
perhaps adding; "dont forget to change
hands at 99, mate" [with a smile]..

some well meaning people have trouble
expressing their responses..
best treat them as positive anyway
to save polluting your own mind..

Well I did say "thanks" and then bit my tongue. The term buddy here in the states is not always used in a polite way
I have to ask what does the 99 comment mean? Don't think I've ever heard it here

@mikal There's a great saying no one ever regretted keeping their mouth shut
A good one to employ if in doubt :)

@MeeLee We've been waiting for you to post your Garage pics

I'm more into comfy rides, like this:

You can see the higher handlebars, and more comfortable, aerodynamic seat.
Oh yeah, I gotcha. Now, let me guess it's other features:
Eco gearing and oil in the fuel tank??
