I know very little about different bikes, this 300F is my first bike since I took the BRC. When I was briefed at the dealership they told me since it doesn't have the R's it's not as performance based. I noticed the spec sheets are identical with the exception of weight.

How much different is potential "performance" is there between these two models? Is it just the sport styling/fairings that give it the R's?

From what I've read, yes, Minus the fairings the bike weighs 14 - 17 pounds less, which is a good thing. I think it's 17lbs. and the engines are exactly the same. I also prefer the looks of the 'F'.

Yup, it surprised me when dealers and people selling products in general don't even know about what it is they're selling.. makes you wonder.

The weight difference will make a minimal difference but mostly the difference is the fairing. I don't think you should make the decision based on the notion that one bike has better performance than the other.

The handlebars are different giving a more upright seating position.

And no fairings.

Sit on both and see what you prefer.
