I was recently rear-ended on my CBR250R and would like to replace the bike with the CBR300R. I did some initial visits to the dealer and the sticker is shocking. For a black one, they want around $5800 + tax & registration. I know it's negotiable, but I am wondering what is a reasonable price for this bike? I read a few threads, but need some more input from US residents.

The tri-color is even more. I believe it adds a couple of hundred $.

I did read through this thread: http://www.cbr300forum.com/forum/honda-cbr300-dealers-pricing/1753-otd-cbr300r-ra-cb300f.html

Generally, we pay more on the west coast, so that's why the reason for this post. Mods, feel free to delete if I am breaking any rules.

Yeah, me too. Hate the negotiating, but love to get a deal. That's a fair price you paid. I would be happy with that. How do you like the yellow stripe? Was it your first choice? I feel like I shouldn't be picky, but I really like the tri-color. That's what I had when I got hit.

I like the yellow! And the fact that the black is matte. They had the tri-color in store when I was shopping. Probably could have got it slightly cheaper since they didn't have to order one in, but like you I was picky

The tri-color and the black/yellow are the same price (only $50 more than base) so it shouldn't jack the price up by waiting to get what you want!

Have you looked around for old stock 250s? I know even mid summer dealers had them still hanging around...
Not at the dealers that I've visited. But as much as I loved that bike, I felt it could use just a bit more power. Honestly if I looked hard enough, I probably could find an old 250 for a deep discount, but I want a new 300. Just don't want to overpay.

Ok, the best I could do was $5500 OTD in Huntington Beach Honda. I am not good at this and it doesn't help that I am in a big rush. I have a 75 mile round trip commute each day. For the last 6 weeks or so, I've been doing that commute in a car in 3 hours round trip. On my bike, it was half that, and a lot more fun. starting this Monday, I am hoping to get back on a bike :) thanks for your input guys. Hopefully I'll be picking it up today.

That's a good deal. I hate negotiating. Salespeople love me. I did get a nice Shoei helmet. I live in the Inland Empire but wanted the tri color and nobody around here has any do I drove to HB. Just love the Honda colors.

girlfriend's bike out the door, about 5712. my tri color about 5651 out the door. we were not good at negotiating the dealer fees, lol...yeah we sucked. the only reason my tri color was so cheap....we bought it second on a slow holiday week, and it was last one in stock, plus it was wet. I test rode it for my girlfriend a couple weeks prior, lol...only two people rode the tricolor, me and the sales guy, lol.... so they knocked another 100 off for buying the second form them. they were upcharging 150 on the tri-color and the black/yellow. mine tag and title was more cuz it was a new tag. we are in central FL.

Kool... Now I don't feel so bad. Some people are paying like 4800 old. I would've liked that.
yeah, we were not able to get them to lower their setup and freight too much. the total setup and freight was 690 each. dealer fee is 199 each. there is not a lot of dealers in the area, so not much in negotiation, lol.... they are a good shop though. they always discount on parts and service for us. while they may stand firm on new sales. they are fair on used, and they make up for it in parts and service with great discounts. it is the nice discounts in parts and service that keep people coming back over and over.
