Seat Forward Slide

I finally figured out how to stop that uncomfortable forward sliding on my seat.

I ride the mountain roads of Western North Carolina (Appalachia) and my shortest commute into town is about one-hour each way. The best part of these rides is the tight twisty paved roads with lots of wide open throttle and hard braking on steep hills. That slopping forward seat thing, really takes the fun out of it after a just a short while.

I have tried just about all available seat pads to no avail. I finally went ahead and re-engineered the front attachment point of the bike and the two resting rubber posts of the seat, to be adjustable. I’ve found that for me, a 1-3/8-inch rise at the front of the seat achieved the most comfortable position, preventing the forward slide altogether.

I am now looking at rides that are only limited in duration by having to stop for fuel. Taking the 9-hour / 260 mile ride from Asheville, NC to Roanoke, VA (on the Blue Ridge Parkway) in one day, is now a totally doable and comfortable proposition.

Ride safe and be well

Glad you got the seat to your liking. I often ride the Blue Ridge Pkwy. I usually get on it in E. Asheville, NC, ride north, and exit onto US321 in Blowing Rock or US421 near Deep Gap north of Boone. Asheville to Blowing Rock is about 97 miles and a little over 3 hours across... depending on rest stops. Your bladder mileage may vary. ;)
My usual ride starts by the lake (Lake Lure) and up towards Hwy-9 to meet Bat Cave Rd. onto Hwy-70 towards Marion to meet Hwy-80 and ride that all the way up to the BRP. I then go on the BRP South to Hwy-215. I take 215 thru the Balsam Grove down to Rossman. From there I head back East on Hwy-64 to Chimney Rock... maybe we could go for a ride together sometime!
