What’s up ya’ll? I recently bought a 2016 cbr300r that has 2,500 miles on it. It has some sort of aftermarket slip-on exhaust but other than that I believe that the rest of the bike is still in factory form. I had read a few post and thought that the top speed was controlled. I got on the highway in traffic and stayed behind the car in front of me until it was clear, going about 55-60 in 5th gear around 7-8 and decided to see where this thing was at. I twisted the throttle and it went passed 90 like it was nothing still in 5th. My question now is, what is the top speed on this bike? I live in the ozark mountains so top speed isn’t really something that I care too much about as long as I can control the corners. I appreciate all of the effort that you guys put in to helping people on this forum and look forward to leaning on this site for future knowledge.

It depends on how much you weigh but I weigh 135 lbs and can get 100 mph or slightly more maybe 103. But the bike at >85 mph buzzes and vibrates alot and its uncomfortable to ride in that upper range for very long.

So i would say that the "functional" top speed it actually 90 mph for commuters. Also i have the naked CB300F without the fairings and my bike is slightly slower than the CBR 300

86mph, then creeping to 97mph is what I got on a flat road, no tail wind. Full tuck. With tail I got 98mph. 2015 CBR300R. (Actual speed).

It didn't really leave me much in reserve on the interstate where flow of traffic is around 80-85mph. I really wouldn't be able to accelerate/escape a bad situation if I found myself in one (like a vehicle/18 wheeler trying to lane change/merge into me).

So I upgraded to a Ninja 400. Basically same size, and same price as a CBR300R, but it outperforms, and is faster than a CBR500R.

Ninja 400 stock max speed is around 116-120mph. 0-60 in 4 sec, 0-100 in 7 sec. It's got that little bit extra acceleration in reserve for if I ever need it.
