I recently bought my first ever helmet. It’s a full face HJC CL-17. Since I have a roundish head, it was the only one that fit well. The only problem is that the chin strap sits at the top of my ‘adam’s apple’, and is quite uncomfortable if the strap is even slightly snug. Unfortunately I didn’t actually fasten the strap at the store on any of the brands/models that I tried. So now I’m wondering if: 1) this is a common issue with most full face helmet types, 2) an issue more prevalent with this particular model, or 3) an issue with my own face structure? I’m thinking that I may have to go back and try on helmets again, but actually fasten up the chin straps this time.
By the way, I would consider my ‘adam’s apple’ to be of normal size.

My strap is snug but that's how they should be. Not tight but definitely not loose. It was uncomfortable for a while at the beginning but like everything you get use to it. Does your strap have padding on it? Mine does
