CB300R oil leak issue

Hi everyone,

I am new to the forum, so please be gentle :) .

I recently bought a new Honda CB300R from a dealer in Taren Point and absolutely love the bike. However, I’ve noticed a disappointing issue: an oil leak, seemingly from the top cover. The bike has only done about 100 km, but oil pools on the garage floor when parked.

It’s clear the oil is cascading from the top of the engine, as I confirmed by running my hand over the top engine cover. The oil level in the inspection glass is below the full mark.

I’m concerned the oil might reach the back wheel while riding. I hope the dealer can fix it quickly under warranty, especially with Christmas just around the corner.

Has anyone else experienced this issue with your Honda??

Thank you.

Thank you, everyone, for your replies.

I called the dealer today, but unfortunately, the service manager wasn’t available:(. I’ll try again tomorrow.

@kiwi rider, I hope it’s just a loose or missing rocker cover bolt. The thought of a long wait for a replacement part is unsettling.

@airhead83, thanks for the advice to keep checking the oil level.

I’ll keep you posted on how this issue and the Honda warranty progress.👍

Finally got my bike back! 🚴‍♂️

Turns out the oil leak was caused by an under-torqued bolt on the upper side of the engine. The fix was straightforward and covered under warranty—at least that's what the mechanic said.

But here's the kicker: it took them two weeks to sort it out! I guess when it’s a warranty job, there’s no rush. 🤷‍♂️
