Guess I'm slow on the uptake.

Nice emoji's btw........ *head shake*
Well to understand British humor..you should really watch Monty Pythons Flying Circus......The 2 Ronnies......Mrs Browns Boys....Benny Hill just to name a few. (It also helps when your Mum is English like mine was);)

I must have had a good weather day last Sunday. I was hugging the tank and glanced at a 98 mph, wow. not bad. I know....it is not about speed. I was in a super giant hurry and well, I did decided to be that stereo typical crotch rocket zipping down the high way. I was really surprised. the bike is all stock. I guess the only difference was my big butt was tucked in so close I felt like I was in the tank. I still ride the heck out the cbr. honda still has a fantastic 1/4 liter.
Soooooo..I guess that means that you will sell the R 3 and get another CBR 300? ;)

You know you can't go wrong no matter which bike you buy....the Honda 300 series (R +F).... the Yamaha R 3 or the Kawasaki Ninja 300. They are all great motorcycles IMHO each one has it's own strength's and weaknesses.

At the moment performance wise I like the Yamaha BUT at my age..late 50's how bloody fast do I need to go? Honestly on the Highway I won't go any faster than 115 KMH and since ( with incentives)the CBR 300 is alot cheaper than the R3...better on gas...has ABS which the R 3 does not I will get the Honda.

BTW..Does the GF leave you in the dust easily when you are on the CBR 300 R?
;)

Thanks Wheelin...
I remember 30 years ago reading in ALL the bike mags about the latest/fastest most trick bikes at the time. In those days I HAD to have the latest thing..so I bought a '86 GSXR 750. I was young(ish) and narrow minded enough to think that anything else smaller in cc was a "kiddies toy". Now that I have matured (hopefully) I can appreciate the 300 cc bike that Honda offers. Sure it may not be the fastest..most powerful 300 cc bike on the market.....BUT there is so much more to the CBR or CB 300 than that.

I really like the styling..the gas mileage ETC the over all package. This is something that perhaps only some of us "mature" members can appreciate. I like small light weight bikes..the CBR 500 would be on my list if it weighted about 40 LBS less.

That pretty well sounds normal (from what I have read) for stock machines. Are you planning on increasing the front sprocket by one tooth (15 teeth) as many have done here???

Other than the fairing the CB300 and the CBR 300 would be very similar performance wise. I have ridden the "R" version a couple of times but not the "F" version but I am pretty sure the "R" version would be better as far as wind protection.

So I can gather from this that top speed is not effected very much whether the bike has a fender eliminator or not.

I totally agree.... The bike does not have enough power to go fast enough (top speed) to have any effect.

OK..I'll ask.. on a top speed run on your 300 R/F is the correct term for "leaning forward" on the gas tank...."ducked" or "tucked"?

That's it!!! The Rad cover splits the air around the bike like the nose on a plane...... You can also visit the bathroom (take X-Lax the night before) before your speed run to decrease any extra weight. ;)

Yeah..When I was younger ...(late 20's) I layed on the gas tank (GSXR 750) + opened the throttle to 220 KPH (140 MPH) and backed off. I never did that again. I figure I was pretty lucky to get away with it..:)
